The Putah-Cache Bioregion Project
An integrated interdisciplinary suite of research and educational activities in the Putah and Cache Creek watersheds, the "home region" of UC Davis. The overall goal of this project is to develop foundations for community planning, resource management, and partnerships in the watershed. The project involves faculty, students, and staff from diverse departments and connects with community, organizational, and public groups in the region.

A blog about bioregional living. The June Sucker is an endangered fish endemic to Utah Lake. June Sucker Nation is the name given to the basin catching the rain that feeds the rivers flowing into Utah Lake, flowing out with the Jordan River and its tributaries which carry their water into the Great Salt Lake. The June Sucker is the indicator species for the health of the watershed, when their population is restored the bioregion as a whole will be on a path to regeneration and abundance.

Aiming to document, restore, and celebrate the incredible diversity of America's edible plants, animals, and food traditions, RAFT is the country's first eco-gastronomic conservation project. The founding partners of RAFT are: American Livestock Breeds Conservancy, Center for Sustainable Environments at Northern Arizona University, Chefs Collaborative, Cultural Conservancy, Native Seed/SEARCH, Seed Savers Exchange, and Slow Food USA.

The Mattole Salmon Group (www.mattolesalmon.org)
The Mattole Salmon Group was formed in 1980 by local citizens who were concerned with the declining salmon populations in the Mattole River. They were the first watershed-wide, entirely citizen-run effort in the Pacific Northwest to begin restoring native salmon runs. They continue to conduct community outreach, environmental education, habitat and species monitoring, and many other projects benefiting the watershed in cooperation with other local groups.

Once you do so, you can access a watershed profile, including citizen-based groups at work in the watershed, environmental websites involving the watershed, assessments of watershed health, and many types of information provided by the United States Geologic Survey (USGS).
