Over the last several years, we've collected hundreds of photos that remind us of Salmon Nation in one way or another. Many of these photos were sent to us by citizens who wanted to share the places they love and the people who make our story's worthwhile.
The slideshows available here are being streamed from a free, online photo sharing site called flickr, and you are invited to contribute to it! It's easy, and here's how:
- If you haven't used flickr before, you'll need to create an account (which is quick and painless. Plus, if you're a Yahoo! user you may already have an account automatically). After you create your account, upload your photos and "tag" them with the appropriate keywords to have them appear in the slideshows below.
- If you already use flickr, just tag your photos with the appropriate keywords. For example, if you've got a picture of a friend fishing while wearing a Salmon Nation hat, this is what we'd call a "redds in action" shot. Just tag the photo with "reddsinaction" and it will be included in the slideshow. If you know where the image was taken, we also encourage you to geotag it so we can put it on a map!

Your story matters...
Salmon Nation would not be the same without millions of people who call it home, and it can’t survive without your help and active participation. But active participation doesn’t just mean making an annual donation to a cause you believe in, although that sure helps. Participating means realizing that your experience makes the difference and that you have something to offer this growing movement.
Maybe you’re a student or an educator, artist or small business owner. Maybe you’re a day-laborer, rancher, electric utility worker, government employee, engineer, chef, retailer, state governor or congressperson. Regardless of what you do, know that we all matter and that we all have a stake in the economic and ecological vitality of this bioregion. Salmon Nation is about recognizing these interconnections and acting on your passion in a way that enhances whole watersheds and fosters our shared prosperity.
There are a million ways to participate in this growing movement, and in these pages we provide a few starting points. You could declare your citizenship and find out about upcoming events, or you could add yourself to the map. You could share photos of trips you’ve taken or things you’ve seen in the bioregion. You could sport some Salmon Nation gear, make a contribution, or get the Salmon Nation credit card. You could even learn how to use the logo on your products or help us spread the word in other ways.
Whatever you do, you’re invited to live like you mean it here in Salmon Nation.
